Fall session updates & Upcoming shows
Hello and happy Labor Day weekend! I hope everyone has a relaxing, safe holiday weekend.
Thank you to everyone who supported Dance for Life - your support helped us meet our fundraising goal - and WOW what a weekend!
Please note that my Monday night class at Joffrey is moving to a 6:30pm start time as of September 14. There is no class on Sep 7. Pre-registration is required at the Joffrey at Adult Division | Joffrey Ballet (the website is 'tricky', LMK if you have trouble registering).
The schedule for Sundays @ Visceral in September is attached.
SAVE THE DATE: Sherry will be teaching the Sunday class at Visceral on October 11 @ 10am.
With Fall comes a new dance season and its already filling up with shows you DO NOT want to miss (Dance Divas, & Dance Theatre of Harlem in particular!). Here's what I'm hoping to get to see in Sep & Oct:
Chicago Dance Crash Keeper of the Floor

The Joffrey Ballet Liliom, a ballet by John Neumeier
September 17 - 27 at Lyric Opera House
Trisha Brown Dance Company Dancing with Bob
September 17 @ 6:30pm at Harris Theater
Chicago LIVE Performing Arts Festival
September 19 & 20 at Navy Pier *FREE*
2nd Chicago Latinx/e Contemporary Movement Festival by Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre
October 2 @ 7:30pm at Dance Center Columbia College
Dance Divas 2026 “Everything Old is New Again” to benefit Chicago Dancers Health Fund
October 10 &11 at Rhapsody Theatre (1328 W Morse Ave)
October 16 & 17 at Studio5 Performing Arts Center, Evanston
October 17 @ 7:30pm at Auditorium Theater
*I have a block of seats in orchestra left @ $90/ticket. Please let me know ASAP if you would like to join my group. If you prefer a lower priced ticket, I will try to switch some seats to accommodate your budget.
I'll let you know about shows in Nov & Dec at a later date, but please save the date for Ballets Jazz Montreal's Dance Me: The Music of Leonard Cohen on November 7.
Finally, two musicals that I want to tell the world about:
Come From Away at the Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre is FABULOUS! I already loved this show and this is the first time it's been done in the round (it's awesome). The intimacy of the theater and the amazing artists made it really special. It's only running until October 18 - don't miss it!
Kokandy Production's Jekyll & Hyde will be at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place Sep 8 - Nov 8. If you missed it at The Chopin Theater, here's your chance to catch it. The cast is amazing (and inside scoop: David Moreland will only be playing Jekyll until ~Oct 11 when he joins Marriott Lincolnshire's cast of Frozen).
Keep dancing - and supporting those who do it for a living!
Thank you.
